HOW TO ORDER
Original Sign Proposal
Before you place your order we provide, with your input, a scale drawing and price it according to your specifications. We don’t give estimates, only quotes for the specific drawing we provide. After you receive the sign proposal we’ll be happy to make any changes you’d like to see. As a result, you’ll see exactly what you’ll get.
We need to know the approximate size you envision your sign being, the copy (what you want to say) and if there are any graphics you’d like to see on the sign. Finally, we render the scale drawing in color, so your input is appreciated.

Carving Just Beginning
We use South American mahogany, as it’s the best wood for holding paint, is very stable, and carves nicely.
We usually incise ( “V” carved ) the lettering into the mahogany. In most cases we carve the image (a loon, in this case) in relief. Sometimes the image will lend itself to be carved intaglio, which is the inverting of a carving. So, If you want an image on your sign, you can either provide it or we can research it and show it on the initial proposal.

First of all, the letters should be in contrast to the background, i.e. light letters on a darker background or vice versa. Here we used gold leaf on a black background. Gold leaf is highly durable and has no tendency to tarnish or discolor.
You can pick up the finished sign at our shop or, for a small fee, shipped directly to you.
